Should a parent accompany his or her student to Falcon Fest?
Falcon Fest is a student centered event and designed to provide new students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Cox High School, make new friends and spread their "falcon" wings.Students will participate in various sessions from 2:15-4:35 on their own. Parents are welcome and strongly encouraged to join us at Falcon Fest for a special session just for them at 4:30 p.m. in the Cox High School Auditorium. Directly following this parent session, all parents and students are invited to participate in a Cox Falcon Pep Rally from 5:15 p.m.-6:15 p.m. in the Gymnasium. So wear your gold and green and be ready to come out and cheer from "The Nest"!
What should the student bring to Falcon Fest?
Students are encouraged to bring a backpack for handouts and other items that may be distributed. Additionally, students who have specific food allergies that may prohibit them from participating in the complimentary refreshments provided, are encouraged to bring their own snacks. Finally, students who are interested in purchasing spirit wear, P.E.Uniforms, or opening an account with Cox Student Credit Union will want to bring money in for these items. A pen or pencil and a small notebook might be helpful. There will be some technology used during sessions, so if students wish to bring a cell phone, this would be helpful.
Will my student be provided refreshments at Falcon Fest?
Yes. Students will enjoy a complimentary array of snacks, lemonade, and chips. Students with specific dietary concerns will need to provide their own bagged snacks.
Is it better for the student to ride the bus to school or be dropped off?
Students are encouraged to ride the bus as this will expedite the drop off process.
What time does the actual event start and end?
Starts at 2:15 p.m. and will end at 6:15 p.m. Buses will transport students to Cox High School, however, not home. Parents will need to provide transportation home at 6:15 p.m.
What type of information should I ask my student about when they get home from the event?
Please ask your students about their day. Some good questions for conversation are: What are the opportunities for school involvement that exist at CHS? What resources are available at CHS to help all students reach their personal and academic goals? What are the guidelines for school dress? Who did you meet today?
What do I do if my student can not attend Falcon Fest?
Be sure to visit the SCA Falcon Fest website to see the session information.
What do I do if my student did not get their PE Uniform or their textbooks?
No problem. Student will be able to obtain PE uniforms and textbooks at the start of the school year.
